How is it already Banquet time? The theme for this year’s Banquet was Ski Lodge 2015 and boy was it cool.

After Banquet, we divided into upper and lower camps and each group had their own Cabaret! Do we really have to leave on Saturday?
As we settle into our last week (pause for whimpers), we keep the excitement coming. Our Hi Seniors went to Costa’s Family Fun Park today, while our Seniors are looking forward to a RailRiders game tonight. It’s the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders vs. the Pawtucket Red Sox. Go RailRiders! Our Juniors had a great time on their trip to a blueberry farm today and that’s not just because they got to have ice cream afterwards! Our CAs and international campers are looking forward to their trip to NYC tomorrow. Back at camp, we sent out our final laundry load of the summer and continued league playoffs.
We can’t believe we’re days away from the Candlelight Ceremony and Banquet. Tomorrow we will post some helpful tips for easing the transition to your camper being home. It’s a big change for both of you!
After an incredibly close Color Days, we’re back to PFC united as one! We had a much needed late sleep and bunk Chestnut had “Breakfast with Borowsky,” something they won on Visiting Day for having the cleanest bunk. They enjoyed baked goods and egg and cheese sandwiches on toasted bagels in boys office which sounds like the perfect post-Color Days meal to us! The whole camp had an open choice period and a day full of league playoffs.
After lunch, we had our annual Old Timers Club (OTC) party! Any camper or counselor who has attended PFC for three years or more is officially a member. We celebrate with a cheerfest and ice cream party and today’s party was a blast! At the end, everyone received the much anticipated Old Timers gift which was a PFC mason jar cup. Cool!
A big highlight for tonight is the all girls dance party. The theme is “twinning” and they are twinning with their big/little sisters. We can’t wait to see their looks!
Hard to believe it’s finally time for THE SING! We arrive at the big event with Blue in the lead, 1519-1512.5. With only a 6.5 point gap, it all comes down to this. Keep refreshing that browser!

Pine Forest Camp was rockin’ today as we played our sister camp, Camp Timber Tops at Chadwin Court. The music was blaring and both sides were cheering and dancing in the stands. Blue and gold outfits on one side and red and white on the other! The game was really secondary. Pine Forest won but Timber Tops had just as much fun.
Sadly, tie dye week ended yesterday and pretty much anything in camp that could be tie dyed has been. Next up, A-game shirts and bunk plaques!
Tomorrow is the big 5K race around camp that campers have been training for all summer. After the big race we will have an all-camp Steeple Chase race followed by a huge rope burning. But more on that tomorrow!
Tonight a special snack, Philly soft pretzels for all!!
Three words: “Keep playing tennis!” That is the mantra that Uncle Marvin
Black lives by and he shared those words with the Marvin Black USTA Tennis Tournament participants this morning. Uncle Marv is 90-years-old and he still plays tennis almost every day. He told the players that it is a lifetime skill and that they should stick with
it. Thanks to Uncle Marv, Pine Forest was one of the first camps in the United
States to host a sanctioned USTA tournament and it’s going stronger than
ever before than 30 years later.
While our tennis players competed, our Junior boys spent the morning at the lake and our Senior and Hi Senior boys played Capture the Asagi. Meanwhile, in arts & crafts, the Senior 8s from girls’ camp began their banquet preparations and tie dye was a huge hit. Over at Center Stage, Kelli Moshen has entered the dance floor! She will be here for a week teaching our campers a dance routine. They couldn’t have been more excited to see her back in the dining hall at lunch! Perhaps it was Klezmer band at last night’s campfire for all girls and lower camp boys that gave them the dancing bug.
Our CAs left for their trip to Washington, DC this morning and look forward to exploring the city, as well as local colleges.
Here we are. Visiting day and trips behind us. Five weeks down and less than two weeks remain. As Mickey says, the best is yet to come! That’s quite a promise, considering how amazing camp has been so far. Our children are in the heart of making their memories and friends for life. How exciting!
Camp goes so quickly. As I say to my kids in the closing of almost every letter, “continue loving every day and every night. You’ll be home before you know it, counting down the days until you get to go back. Don’t waste a minute. Continue to try new things, make new friends, look up at the stars and breathe in the mountain air. Home is always here, waiting for you, but camp goes so quickly. So, love up every remaining day and night.”
