A Star-Spangled Day at Camp

Of all the special days at camp, we have to admit that the 4th of July is one of the absolute best! The fun kicks off the moment the sun peeks over Cliff Hill and doesn’t stop until the last firework fades from the night sky.

At Pine Forest Camp, it’s tradition for our oldest girl campers, the Hi-Senior 10s, to wake up at the crack of dawn, decked out head to toe in red, white, and blue. They blast music and run through camp, spreading excitement (and a lot of energy!) as they wake everyone up for the big day. By breakfast, campers are leaping out of bed, pulling on patriotic tutus, silly headbands, wigs, face paint, and anything else they can find, transforming PFC into a sea of stars and stripes.

Breakfast is an all-American feast: stacks of fluffy French toast topped with strawberries, blueberries, and whipped cream, served on festive plates. And just when you think it can’t get sweeter — we bring out the Krispy Kreme donuts! And in true 4th of July fashion, lunch is a classic BBQ with all the fixings.

The afternoon brings one of our favorite traditions: the epic counselor parade! Our counselors dress up as iconic American figures and march through camp to cheers and laughter. Next, our juniors, inters, and seniors dive into a carnival bursting with fun games (run by our spirited Hi-Senior 10s!), splashes in the pool, and bouncing around on giant inflatables. Pure summertime magic! Meanwhile, the Hi-Senior 9s kick back at a 4th of July Lake Luau, making memories by the water.

After a mouthwatering dinner of fried chicken, the whole camp gathers at Netsy Playhouse for the legendary 4th of July Talent Show. Campers and counselors have been rehearsing for weeks and trust us, it’s always the show of the century! There’s singing, dancing, and even a few surprises.

And of course, no 4th of July at PFC would be complete without fireworks. We’ll all head together to Mitchell Field with our glow necklaces and blankets to watch the night sky burst with color, OOOOH-ing and AHHHH-ing at every spark.

When it’s all over, we’ll drift off to sleep, hearts full and faces still painted, dreaming of another epic day ahead. There’s truly no better place to celebrate the 4th of July than “Up Where the Sky Begins!”

Pine Forest Camp or Nowhere

We’re movin’ and shakin’ up where the sky begins!

After a delightful breakfast of make-your-own breakfast sandwiches, we headed out to take our official bunk photos! Be on the lookout for those under the tent on Visiting Day! We sorted laundry for the first time and reflected on our inaugural Mahjong lessons under the Dining Tent yesterday. Things are moving fast here at PFC!

Lunchtime brought tacos, chips and salsa, street corn salad, watermelon and more! Were there guacamole cheers in the dining hall? Of course there were! We cheer and sing for just about everything here in Greeley.  We’re staying hydrated and soaking up the sun this afternoon! We heard it might be a delicious turkey dinner tonight — the perfect fuel for our evening activities!

But wait! There’s more! Our 11th graders leave for Costa Rica tomorrow. We’ll post more on that soon, but they are so excited. And though we’re excited for them, of course, we miss them already!

Don’t worry about us, moms and dads! Life is good at PFC.

Welcome Home, Campers!

Cue the confetti!

Our 95th Summer at Pine Forest Camp has officially begun!

FINALLY! We’re back! Together in Greeley, here in the place we’ve been dreaming of all year long. We are so ready for another unforgettable summer in the beautiful Pocono Mountains! It’s hard to adequately explain the feeling in the air today. The joy, the love, the excitement, the anticipation…It’s in the dining hall, in the bunks… Someone pinch us! We’ve been counting down for the past 10 months to get to this moment. And for some, it’s a dream that’s been years in the making (we’re looking at you, first-time campers!).

The morning began with families arriving by car, bringing hopes and dreams and joyful reunions down the winding road. Soon after, buses rolled into camp from Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, carrying campers from near and far (including Florida, Colorado, Arizona, California, and beyond!). Did it rain? It sure did. But ya know what?! It didn’t even matter! A little rain can’t bring us down today. The dining hall was filled with cheers and chants like we never left. And all buses arrived by 12:45PM in time for a camp pizza lunch – the stuff of dreams!

The afternoon was filled with icebreakers, bunk bonding, meeting new friends, reconnecting with old ones, divisional welcomes from our leadership team, and the ever-important health screenings and lice checks at the health center from a professional company, Lice Free Noggins (if you don’t get a call, your camper is lice-free)!

Tonight, the excitement continues with what we know will be a dining hall full of singing, dancing, and our favorite opening day dinner: Chinese food! Chicken, veggie fried rice, lo mein, roasted vegetables, fresh fruit, fortune cookies, and a whole lot of happy campers. We’re heading to the official summer kick-off at Netsy Playhouse and then onto evening activities.

We made it. You made it. Camp is officially underway, and what a beautiful, joyful first day it’s been here in Greeley. Summer 2026 is off to an amazing start, and if today is any indication, it’s going to be our best summer yet!

The Trouble with Camp

The trouble with camp is that camp ends.

The buses pull out this morning. In an instant, camp is silent. But the air will be filled with happy memories. Pine Forest’s 94th summer has come to a close and it was one of the best ever.

Thank you one and all, campers, counselors, housekeeping, kitchen, maintenance, nurses, doctors, office staff and drivers, for making it such a tremendous season.

And now it’s back to home and school. But everyone who shared this wonderful summer comes home a little different. A little better. Keep the spirit of PFC alive all year long. Stay in touch.

Pine Forest is more than a place in Greeley, PA. It’s a place in our hearts.

The Things We Carry

Like the song says, “All our bags are packed, we’re ready to go.” Mountain Baggage, R&B Baggage, UPS, and FedEx.

Today we pack up, have our awards ceremonies, and tonight it’s the candlelighting. It feels like we just arrived, but we’re coming home with so much more than we can pack in a bag: New friends, new adventures, new confidence. There isn’t a duffle bag or shipping company big enough to handle it.

Those are the things we carry.

Visiting Day and the 10-Year Tree Ceremony

Excitement was in the air today as we welcomed family and friends for Visiting Day 2025! What an amazing day all-around! Parents gushed over all of the amazing artwork campers have been working on all summer, families swam in the pools, tackled the Wibits at the lake, and even enjoyed a snippet of this year’s production of Wicked at Netsy Playhouse! It was quite a day!

The warmth we felt wasn’t even weather-related (although we couldn’t have asked for a better day!), it was the warmth from our camp families joining us “Up Where the Sky Begins!” And you know what makes the day even more special? So many parents who were once campers and counselors, reconnecting with old camp friends. Former campers and counselors who made the trip to Greeley to spend a few hours in their favorite place with their favorite people. Our special 10-Year Tree Ceremony, where we celebrate those who have officially spent 10 summers here at camp. Noticing a trend? PFC is simply irresistible!

We already can’t wait for Visiting Day 2026! We hope to see you there! Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming. Campers all had time to cool off in the pool when Visiting Day ended, and tonight boys’ camp will be busy making s’mores around the campfire while girls’ camp will participate in the much anticipated annual MTV Night! We have a few more precious weeks to soak up all this fun!

COLLEGE DAY 2025

College Day 2025 Opening Ceremonies came in like a wrecking ball! 🎶 The energy? Electric. The spirit? Off the charts.

After days of anticipation, Pine Forest Camp has officially split into four spirited teams for two epic days of competition!

This year’s college lineup is:

Pitt

Louisville

Tennessee

Iowa

From the moment the teams were revealed, camp exploded into a sea of colors, cheers, and camaraderie. Campers sprinted to their bunks to grab gear, paint faces, and prep their voices for non-stop cheering.

Last night’s Opening Ceremonies set the tone: loud, proud, and full of heart. The traditions we love—like Steeple Chase, Tug o’ War, and the legendary Rope Burn—lit up the night with excitement. Campers raced, pulled, and cheered each other on with everything they had. Whether you were jumping hurdles or rallying your team at the sidelines, there was only one word to describe it: EPIC.

College Day is more than just games. It’s teamwork. It’s legacy. It’s pushing yourself to go just a little further, run a little faster, cheer a little louder. It’s about making memories that will stick with you long after the team colors fade.

Let the games begin. 🏁 Let the tradition continue. And may the best college win!

Friday Night Campfires

There’s something timeless about Friday nights at Pine Forest Camp. As the sun dips behind the trees and the sky turns that perfect shade of twilight, campers and counselors gather around the crackling campfire, just like they have for almost 100 years.

It’s more than just a camp tradition; it’s a feeling that connects generations. We sing songs that have echoed through our woods for decades. Tunes passed down from camper to camper, counselor to counselor, each verse carrying memories of summers gone by. The familiar strum of a guitar, the harmonies under the stars, and the laughter between songs remind us that some things never change, and that’s what makes them so special.

Around the fire, stories come alive: Tales of adventure, camp legends, or just funny memories from the week. And of course, it wouldn’t be a Pine Forest campfire without the s’mores. Chocolate, graham crackers, and perfectly toasted marshmallows taste even better when shared with friends.

For our campers, Friday night campfires are a pause from the busy, fun-filled days — a chance to slow down, look around, and soak in the magic of camp. For our alumni, they’re a memory that stays warm in their hearts long after the embers fade.

Here’s to the songs we’ve always sung, the stories we’ll never forget, and the s’mores that bring us all together at PFC.
