Color Days 2014!

It was a three stage break. First the a plane overhead dropping flyers,
then a parade led by a dinosaur and a rocket ship and finally two  huge
inflatable floats and all of our leaders in costumes. Awesome!  The themes
are Prehistoric Blue vs. Futuristic Gold. Let the games and the fun
begin!!

Jeff Feld of the Cleveland Cavaliers (Front Office)

Jeff Feld of the Cleveland Cavaliers organization and an alum of our
brother camp Lake Owego, came to talk to campers today and teach some
drills that the NBA team uses to warm up before games. Jeff gave us the
inside scoop on the LeBron James deal and talked about the prospects for
the Cavaliers and other teams. There was a lively Q & A session with
campers and then we headed off to our own version of the NBA, PFC
basketball leagues.

On The Move!

On your mark, get set, it’s the Pike County Track Meet today on a real
high school track field at Wallenpaupack High School where our travelling
track team will be competing against other camps in the area. This is a
picture of the boys team getting ready to board the buses. The girls team
returned with a lot of success. PFC moving fast!

Keep Playing Tennis!

Three words, “Keep playing tennis!”. That is the mantra that Uncle Marvin
Black lives by and he shared that anthem with the multitudes of players
who assembled for the Pine Forest Marvin Black USTA Tennis tournament.
Uncle Marv at age 89 still plays tennis almost every day. He told the
participants that it is a lifetime skill and that they should stick with
it. He even gave a little advice. He told them that whenever there is a
questionable call, always give the advantage to your opponent, more than
likely, it will come back to you when you are on the other side of a call.
Pay it forward.

Thanks to Uncle Marv, Pine Forest was one of the first camps in the United
States to host a sanctioned USTA tournament and it’s going stronger than
ever 30 years later.

So when Uncle Marv says “Keep playing tennis”, he means a lot more than
the game. Keep trying hard. Keep paying attention. Keep engaged in life.

PFC Mud Run 2014!

Are you afraid of the mud? Not us.

Bunk by bunk, PFC campers made their way throughout camp, conquering various obstacles. Some muddy, some not, made by our maintenance staff and overseen by the athletic staff! The girls really seemed to embrace the mud and the boys followed in their footsteps, literally. Instead of a finish line, a sprinkler awaited everyone’s last steps as well as a PFC Mud Run bandana! Yellow for the girls and blue for the boys. Those could come in handy soon. Blue. Gold. Gold. Blue. 1-2-3-4. We. Want….COLOR WAR!

It’s muddy days like this when we kinda wish we still had shower houses. Sort of, but not really. Thankfully, laundry goes out tomorrow.

It’s not the Dead Sea, but this mud packs a punch!
