The Mighty Delaware River.

Cedar Rapids,  Skinners Falls, Callicoon, Pond Eddy, Hawk’s Nest, Lackawaxen… Iconic names of places on the river’s edge. Some spots are marked, some are just legend, but you know that you are moving by fast and moving with the force of one of the great rivers in North America. You’re on the Delaware.

Pine Forest is much more then just team sports and arts and crafts. Some campers crave the unknown, the unexpected… true adventure. And they love a canoe trip. Put on your sunscreen, your life jacket and grab a paddle. You never know what’s around the next bend. Kind of like life.

Camp is many things, but there’s nothing fake or virtual about it. It is as real as real can get. Once you commit, you may get wet, you may get weary, but you’re going to make it. And there’s no better feeling.

Hi, “Goldie”!

The girls in bunk Goldenrod have a new resident, a robin and her babies in a birds nest just outside their window. They named the momma bird “Goldie”. You can see it up close from  inside looking through the glass.

Sometimes it’s not the big planned activities or events at camp, but occurrences like this, when nature adds its own beauty and wonder to everyday life.

Baseball and more @ PFC!

Uncle Marv threw out the first pitch and it was a full morning of an intercamp baseball tournament today out on Mitchell Field. Also today, the girls 11 and under basketball played in a great game and campers warmed up for a climbing competition later this week.

Peter Pan rehearsals are in full swing and Kelli Moshen, our professional dance performer and teacher, began her intensive dance mini-camp for all interested campers. And camper bands are beginning to form for the much anticipated  upcoming “Battle of the Bands”.

We’re rockin’!

Pine Forest, Ink.

We’re turning pine trees to pens at camp today!

Campers are creating their own unique, wooden pens in wood shop today.  After carefully selecting their piece of wood, campers spend 10-15 minutes sanding and crafting their pens.  The best part?  Each one is different and awesome just like our campers!

Looks like the next few letters they’ll be writing home might be written with a cool new wooden writing utensil!

Play Days & Explorer Weekends!

A Day in the Life of PFC for future campers!

It’s our first future camper day at camp! Future campers came from far and wide to see PFC in action. It was a beautiful day with lots going on. Our Play Dayers arrived mid-morning and stayed busy all day long meeting campers, counselors  and participating in activities. They head down to the lake, up to arts and crafts and on the courts and fields for athletics. Parents and siblings had a tour of camp, a quick lunch and returned to pick up their future campers in the afternoon. For those families who are looking to sign up for 2018 or 2019, it’s a great way to experience one of America’s great camps in action.

There’s only one more Play Day left, on August 5.

Please call the office to save your future camper a spot: (570) 685-7141.

Also future campers can join us for an overnight Explorer weekend:

July 15-16th: Limited space!

July 22-23rd: Sold out!

July 29-30th: Limited space!

Calling all future campers!

Come up to see what a great camp looks like, Pine Forest Camp 2018!

Keep Playing Tennis!

Today is the USTA Tournament!

Campers from all over come to participate in singles and double competitions. On days like today, campers are reminded to “Keep Playing Tennis”, Marvin Black’s mantra. The game of tennis is a lifetime skill and Pine Forest has a fantastic program headed up by tennis pro, Craig Wallace.

Let the games and the fun begin!

Sailing Lessons with Conner!

J- Stroke practice, capsizing canoe exercises, and jumping on
inflatables, it’s all fun on a beautiful day like today at the lake. But
the most lasting lessons at the lake are sailing lessons! They say that if
you can learn to sail a sailfish or sunfish small craft, you can sail just
about anything  and our Head of Lake is the best instructor this side of
Lake Wallenpaupack.

Sail on campers, sail on!

Red, White, Blue and Gold!

It’s the Fourth of JULY!

July 4th is one of the best days at camp, so we woke up to pure excitement today! Our 10s came through each bunk decked out in red, white and blue and they paraded around camp with whistles and bullhorns in their decorated golf carts!

We walked into the dining room to find the entire place decorated with red, white and blue balloons and streamers. Even a few inflatable Uncle Sams joined the party! For breakfast, we had waffles with strawberries (red), whipped cream (white), and blueberries (blue) and fresh Krispy Kreme doughnuts – a true PFC tradition!

We did lunch the only way we know how to on the 4th: a cookout in the grove, complete with foot-long hot dogs!

This afternoon, we had an awesome carnival come to camp! It was complete with an inflatable obstacle course for the pool, massive inflatable waterslides and even a dunk tank! Campers loved dunking their counselors.

The highlight of the day takes place after dinner when we have our all-camp talent show at Netsy Playhouse followed by the best fireworks display in Pike County over Mitchell Field. We always hear from alumni that July 4th reminds them of their cherished time in Greeley. We wouldn’t have it any other way.

Happy birthday America!

Backtrack Vocals!

There is no more beautiful sound than the human voice in song and today,
the mountains were ringing with the sounds of the A Cappella group
“Backtrack”. Five fabulous voices combined to bring campers the joy of
music at Nesty Playhouse. New songs, old songs and some camper
participation, too. Will there be our own PFC A Cappella group to perform
on Visiting Day?  We’re working on it! Thank you, Backtrack, for a fabulous
performance!
