Camp + Community Service in Costa Rica +
Pine Forest Camp has shaped the lives of our oldest campers; it’s their turn to share with others.
PFC 11th graders spend their final summer of camp with lifelong friends in and outside of Greeley, Pennsylvania. Our outstanding 11th Grade Leadership Program has evolved into an exceptional three-camp opportunity, allowing eleventh-graders from Camp Timber Tops, Lake Owego Camp, and Pine Forest Camp to engage in an incredible service-learning program in Costa Rica, earning 70+ hours of community service credit, while still experiencing the highlights of camp life. In Costa Rica, our campers plan and implement a camp for Costa Rican children where they act as staff. During their time in the United States, and as a complement to leadership camp activities, 11th-graders visit numerous college and university campuses in preparation for their upcoming college search. Past formal tours have included: Boston University, Tufts University, Northeastern University, George Washington University, University of Maryland.
What’s the best part? Meeting new people! Spending time with old friends! Touring college campuses! Seeing shows! Exploring new cities! Ziplining, white water rafting and adventures galore in Costa Rica! Sharing the joys of camp with others! Making it back to Greeley, PA in time for Color Days!
The 11th Grade Leadership Program is an exciting way of giving back to the community, both globally and locally. We at camp also see it as a fundamental stepping stone into the role of Pine Forest counselor.
Camp is going to Costa Rica! Pine Forest Camp, Camp Timber Tops and Lake Owego Camp have joined forces to create the 11th Grade Summer Leadership Program in Costa Rica. This unique program is the perfect opportunity to share the joys of camp with others. Our campers will run a day camp for children who’ve never experienced the magic of camp and create an action packed schedule for them!
